What 1,736 public AI photo app reviews complained about.

Quick answer

MainPic screened 1,736 dated public reviews from App Store, Google Play, and Trustpilot surfaces covering direct and adjacent AI photo products. Of 1,275 reviews in the 90-day window ending August 1, 2026, 505 were rated 1–3 stars. A transparent keyword screen matched 217 negative or mixed reviews to pricing, subscriptions, billing, or refunds. The sample is unequal by product and the categories overlap, so these counts identify complaint patterns rather than market-wide prevalence.

Method

The project collected dated public reviews on August 1, 2026. The 90-day analysis window ran from May 3 through August 1. A multi-label keyword taxonomy screened negative and mixed reviews; categories can overlap. Billing, artificial-output, and low-yield matches received a random qualitative spot-check.

The covered set includes Remini, Facetune, Umax, RIZZ, LooksMax AI, ReGen AI Dating Photos, Sway, Aragon AI, HeadshotPro, PhotoAI, ROAST, TruShot, DatePhotos.AI, TinderProfile.ai, and Secta Labs. The analysis is a MainPic product-research asset, not an independent consumer ranking.

What the data supports

The screen supports transparent one-time pricing, showing useful value before payment, screening inputs before expensive processing, and making refund conditions readable. It does not establish which product is best, estimate the probability that any individual user will complain, or measure dating outcomes.

Limitations

Product volumes are highly unequal; Facetune and Remini contribute many more reviews than smaller direct competitors. Store sampling and moderation differ. Keyword rules produce false positives and false negatives. Formal reviews also understate concerns people may discuss on social surfaces rather than in app-store reviews.
